HDI Versicherung AG is a property insurance company, part of the HDI Group it became in 1983. Insurance policies are primarily taken out through independent brokers. Half of its portfolio consists of private insurance policies. It has repeatedly received the prestigious Assekuranz Award Austria (5 stars for motor, property and legal protection insurance) and AssCompact Award (1st place for motor insurance). The other half of the insurance portfolio consists of corporate insurance. HDI is one of the market leaders in Austria in the insurance of industrial risks, taking into account its underwriting capacity, know-how, financial strength and the international context resulting from its affiliation with the Talanx Group and, above all, its specialised company, HDI Global SE. In addition to the branch office in Slovakia, the Austrian HDI also manages organisational units in Hungary and the Czech Republic. On 10 June 2009, the branch of HDI Versicherung AG in Slovakia took over the portfolio of the former insurance company HDI-Gerling Slovensko, a.s., which ceased to exist after the completion of its cross-border merger with HDI Versicherung AG. The organisational integration into the structure of the Austrian insurance company gives the branch the opportunity to have full access to the financial and system background, personnel and technical support from the Vienna headquarters. This advantage, together with the no less strong side based on its own experience and a professionally efficient team, enables the branch to offer its Slovak clients services of the highest quality.

In its business activities in the Slovak Republic, HDI has fully continued the business orientation of its predecessor - the insurance company Gerling, later HDI-Gerling Slovensko. The target customer segment remains industry, especially energy, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, general production, construction, but also larger and medium-sized companies from the area of trade and services. The main products in this segment are property insurance and insurance of technical risks, damage liability insurance and transport insurance. Especially in these types of insurance, HDI can offer clients complete solutions for their individual insurance needs, risk analyses at European standards and their underwriting management.
